Nariel, The Shadowdancer
It was not my choice to be captured! You all left me in the clutches of... of... her. You cannot fault me for your own inaction. Nor the power I wield now. I am Demon Lord Nariel, I will stand against destruction but not with you!

Personal history
Nariel was captured by Malcanthet during one of the Archangel's invasions into the Abyss. When Nariel was captured, nearly half of her Angelic Host was alongside her and these angels have never returned to the heavens. The Archangel became a fixation for Malcanthet, as the Demon Lord became obsessed with the beautiful and defiant angel. Over the course of centuries, Nariel was worn down further and further as she was abandoned by her brothers and Sisters. It was actually her sibilings abandonment of her that led Zariel to join the ranks of the Devils to destroy the demons.
During her imprisonment, Nariel was subject to every form of conditioning the Succubus Queen could bring forth. It took nearly four hundred years of imprisonment before Nariel broke. She abandoned hope that her fellow Archangels would come for her and submitted to Malcanthet. The two performed a consensual rite from both sides that bound them to one another, an unbreakable union. Nariel then acted as both Queen of the Midnight Isles and Handmaiden to her Wife and Queen for four hundred years, though she did not become corrupted like Zariel had when she turned to the Devils. This turn was not simply the result of brainwashing or Mind control, Nariel chose to stay of her own accord, she enjoyed the way Malcanthet treated her and the Demon Lord took care of her with more care than anyone else.
When her twin brother, Archangel Earavos, was captured, he saw Nariel accompanying Malcanthet of her own accord and felt that she had to be under a spell, an affliction of some kind. He begged his sister to aid him, to free herself from Malcanthet's control and return with him to Mount Celestia. It took ten years of pleading for her to free him, though she had planned to stay within the Midnight Isles herself. She was forcibly returned by Earavos back to Mount Celestia and subjected to the Light of Heaven's golden rays. The Light burned her body but she was here now and she submitted to being placed back amongst her Angelic Host, despite how miserable she was to be returned here.
She has since led her Angelic Host against Demonic Invasions of the Planes, clashing with the likes of Orcus and Demogorgon on even terms, a feat that even the other Archangels would find taxing. Nariel stands as unique among the Archangels, as she has drawn power from the Midnight Isles and can use that power at will to teleport, duplicate herself or even to overpower Other Lords of the Abyss. It has been noted that sometimes one can see Demons within the Enemy Ranks fighting one another, whether this is from herself or Malcanthet is only a matter of Speculation.
Sexuality
Bisexual
Accomplishments & Achievements
Has bested the Demon Lords: Orcus, Demogorgon and Yeenoghu.
Mental Trauma
Her attempted conditioning at the hands of Malcanthet did scar her for many ages, though she did come to terms with it during her reign as Queen of the Midnight Isles, with Malcanthet apologizing to her fellow Queen and offering recompense, though what form this took is only known to the two of them.
Morality & Philosophy
Following her return to the Heavens, Nariel has voiced views that the Archangels are no better than the Demon Lords in some aspects, their dogmatic dedication to an unchanging ideal and their view that all demons must be eliminated irks her in ways that she cannot rectify.
She views that any being can change, She has voiced the desire to have her brothers and sisters meet with Malcanthet to realize that not all demons need be slain. The only reason she was not imprisoned for this is that none of her fellows can stand to her in battle.
Taboos
She will not harm Malcanthet or Succubi.
Social
Reign
While her Reign as Queen of the Midnight Isles lasted only four hundred years, a permanent throne sits beside Malcanthet's awaiting her return. Others have observed her looking down from Mount Celestia and weeping when alone.
Family Ties
While the other Archangels are unsure of the extent of her relationship with Malcanthet, Nariel is very aware of her many children who dwell within the Midnight Isles. She- I miss them all. They were so happy when last I saw them, except when Garavos dragged me away from them. If it weren't for the war that it would bring to the Midnight Isles, I would go to them now...
