Catane is at the top of the chain when looking at all the species in Elmon forest. It is fast, and it's agile - perfect for the thick forest.
Physique
The Catane is a rather peculiar animal, with an armadillo-type body and hard skin across its body - almost like scales. It has 4 limbs, like many of the animals, and at the end of each, it has big claws that can dig deep into the soft trees in Elmon. This makes them excellent climbers, but its nothing compared to the
Atzal.
They have strong muscular bodies that are capable to withstand a lot of strain - that means they can travel long distances in the crowded and thick forest floor, without getting tired. They are natural explorers and travels far and wide in the big forest of Elmon. Though they never seem to leave the safety of the trees.
With a body with hard skin and almost shell-like scales, the Catane can take some big hits. If feeling threatened, they can curl up their feet at throw themselves at their contestant with their hard shell first. They can also fall big distances without being deathly wounded.
Carnivores
Catanes survives on eating meat from other animals in the forest, though they rarely go for animals on their own size. They tend to hunt the smaller animals, and sometimes even big insect-like creatures. The Atzal is about the right size for the Catane to hunt, but they are rather hard to catch for the Catane. Running and climbing is a specialty of the Catane but only close to the ground. The trees in Elmon can grow very high, but it's too difficult to climb to the top for Catanes. The trees at the top also tend to be very thin, and cannot withstand the weight of a Catane.
They are good hunters on the ground and has a great sense of smell. Small animals that dig holes in the ground to hide are easy pray for Catane. Over the years, their feet with big claws have developed into great shovels, and can easily find animals hiding underground.
Natural predators
Within the natural walls of Elmon, Catane is at the top of the food chain. They are not hunted but are rather the main hunter. Outside of the safety of the trees is another story.
Some Catane that has wandered too close to the borders has been caught by larger predators. These creatures do not live in Elmon, as it is far too narrow for many larger animals. That's the main reason for the Catane to be at the top of the chain.
