Narrowleaf sorrowgrass

Narrowleaf sorrowgrass, or just commonly 'sorrowgrass', is a perennial grass native to Underdark. It is the favored grass of underdark bovines, called Rothés and it gives their milk and meat a distinctively umami taste. The well-known, almost legendary fact about sorrowgrass is the fact that the plant favors places where blood has speen spilled and someone (or something) has died. Therefore it often grows on Underdark battlefields and in places of bloodshed.
Sorrowgrass is not magical per se, but if it happen to grow near magical crystals or other magically loaded places, which in Underdark there are plenty of, sorrowgrass can attain minor magical properties and it can be used in potionmaking and alchemy as an ingredient or as a substitute for certain other ingredients that are harded to come by. Sorrowgrass is especially useful when trying to re-do older surface recipies with ingredients native to The Underdark. The sorrowgrass also sprouts quickly, even in matter of a few days.

Conservation Status
Least concerned. The sorrowgrass is particular about the quality of the soil, but when the soil is right, it grows extremely well. It can also be cultivated and grown in pots, if one remembers to fertilize the plant correctly, according to its liking, which often requires using blood as a part of the fertilizer.
