Atlantis

Atlantis is the main hub of Atlantean culture and the birthplace of wizardry on Alterra. Initially settled by humans from the colony ship, their lifter sits at the center of the city, stripped down to the hull and structure. over the millennia Atlantis has rose up from a settlement to a grand city of towers and walls. Sacked or torn apart by civil wars and uprisings it has been abandoned twice, and resettled, only to rise again. For the last 900 years it has regained it's importance as the hub of Atlantean culture and of magical learning.
Relics of the ancients and magical items can still be found especially in ruins underneath the city, but when it's been abandoned these lower levels become home to many kinds of monsters and vermin.

Atlantis has both a major seaport and a large landing field for airships. Some use a combination of aeronautical balloon technology, Ancient relics and magic to fly. Each is unique and a result of both the craftsmanship of the builder and the ingenuity of the owners.
