Kodo (I've met you smallfolk halfway by having the one name)

Mental characteristics

Personal history

This One is the only (as far as he knows) child of a Firbolg couple who, foolishly, decided to relocate back to Fallrock with their infant son. His parents were completely unprepared for the ways in which the region had changed following the rise of the Dread King and were killed either by exposure or the native wildlife. The infant was found a few days later badly dehydrated but alive by a Goliath named Stoneskipper and company. They took the child with them and dropped him off at the Monastery of Flowers where Stoneskipper's brother Long Stride was a teacher.   Eventually under Long Stride's tutelage this one (at that time known to the other monks as Rook) became adept at the Way of the Open Hand though he believed that isolation would only serve the monastery so far. Eventually he did depart the only home he'd ever known roughly 15 years or so before the start of the campaign. He traveled with a group of barbarians as their company cook for a few years before eventually ending up in Aria.

Education

This One was raised and trained at the Monastery of Flowers. It is also where he learned to cook.

Employment

This One has worked as a chef for much of his time since leaving the Monastery. He cooked for a small group of barbarians before eventually getting a job at and becoming proprietor of a small restaurant in Aria known as The Monkey's Paw. Eventually he bequeathed the Paw to his protege Aeleith when he signed on with Lyren Killian and became a member of what would become Persicorum.

Mental Trauma

Though he rarely speaks of it, Kodo is very much aware that he is among the last of his kind in Alturis and that does weigh on him at times.

Intellectual Characteristics

This One values a well ordered mind and a simple, honest life (though one might not know it looking at his life at this time).  He has a quiet, meditative approach to life and does his best to live his life by the tenants of the Open Hand's philosophy.

Morality & Philosophy

This One is a pacifist at heart and the irony of the fact that fighting is one of the things in life that he is best at is not lost on This One.  He always tries to see the best in everyone and believes that anyone, if properly motivated, can change themselves for the better.

History

Kodo never trusted Archania and saw her as a liability, a liar and incredibly dangerous to be around Gwydion and, though he promised Gwydion he would not interfere in a fair fight between the rogue and Archania. Kodo remained incredibly untrusting and paranoid about the Weaving Providence Assassin.    His paranoia was shown to be true when, during the battle for the Sea of Chaos, Kodo watched Archania stab Gwydion in the back before disappearing into the ocean and he has since notified the party of the dishonorable betrayal and has promised that they will get vengeance for what happened to Gwydion.

Relationship Reasoning

SO. MANY. REASONS

Shared Acquaintances

Kodo and Archania were both linked by their relationship to Kodo and, though they both liked the rogue, Archania ensured the party would see her as their enemy once she betrayed Gwydion and killed him.

History

Kodo was, in essence, raised by Long-Stride during his time in the Monastery of Flowers. Long-Stride filled such a strong father figure for the firbolg that he greatly impacted on Kodo's mindset and sense of adventure.    Long-Stride is also the reason for Kodo's first name, as he decided to name the Firbolg 'Rook' during their training in the monastery of flowers. Long-Stride is also part of the reason Kodo/Rook gained such a love of cooking and he often entered debate with the firbolg to encourage independent and critical thinking, one of these debates guided Kodo into leaving the monastery behind so he could have his own adventure.

History

When Allea and her family fled from Dashilla the Dark Queen's wrath in the Feywild they were immediately thrust into a rough existence and Allea entered a life of banditry. This was harsh and ultimately left her scarred, hurt and angry.    Eventually, she came across The Monkey's Paw and Kodo, who was the current owner. After staying for a while and being nursed back to health she took a job in the Monkey's Paw with Kodo and proved to be a skilled chef, waitress and a reliable employee. She took a role with Kodo in a similar manner to the role he once had with Long-Stride and Allea took steps to leave her life of banditry behind.    Whilst still something of a rough type and always wielding her weapons as well as never showing a 'peaceful' mindset like Kodo's, Allea proved to be an excellent employee in the Monkey's Paw and took over the place when Kodo left to join Persicorum.

Nicknames & Petnames

She addresses Kodo as 'Boss' and almost acts like that is his name as opposed to Kodo... in short, that is the tongue-in-cheek name that Allea has given him.

Relationship Reasoning

Kodo nursed Allea back to health, taught her to cook and gave her a life as owner of the Monkey's Paw.   Allea never followed Kodo's peaceful mindset but was successfully healed by his presence.

Commonalities & Shared Interests

A love of cooking, debate and conversation.

Shared Secrets

Allea has not told anyone else of the many, MANY crimes she committed as a bandit and brigand before she found the Monkey's Paw.

Kodo is a tall, lanky Firbolg with a friendly, mild mannered disposition who serves as the party's cook. He is also a Way of the Open Hand monk who was raised at the Monastery of Flowers. He has only recently returned to the adventuring life.
