Alkebulan

Pharos Aksum Nekor

Geography

The continent of Alkebulan is located to the South of Kornôgel across the Mor Kreizdouar. The Northern Ar Mor, an arid desert known as Slaver's Coast, is controlled by a collection of small kingdoms, the remnants of The Empire of Tarif's holdings in the region, reaching the City-State of Pharos. Here, the coast turns northwards to the region of Outremer, a collection of petty kingdoms founded by nobles from Kornôgel. Outtremer's Northern border is a channel separating Alkebulan from The Sea of Wine. The Maelstrom, a massive whirlpool and atmospheric disturbance, makes further Eastward travel difficult.   On the Eastern edge of Outtremer, the Rub' al Khali desert, a massive sand sea, is dominated by the Caliphate of Ubar and The Shifting Sands, a dangerously unstable Bleed.   The Western Ar Mor of Alkebulan is a treacherous voyage, traveling through dangerous conditions with few villages or settlements for replenishment. Those who brave the journey find their progress thwarted by The Graves, a coastal desert of massive tidal changes and strong currents. Few have successfully made it past this dangerous obstacle.   Compared to Kornôgel, very little of the interior of the continent is mapped by Northerners, thwarted by the Shifting Sands and other natural and supernatural barriers. Legends of cities of Gold, diamonds and other riches still draw in many an adventurer deep inside.

History

Slaver's Coast was originally a vibrant home of Imperial colonies, controlling trade across the Mor Kreizdoaur and exerting a great influence over the Empire itself. Following The Tear, the region fell into a period of civil war, as the regions fought each other to assert primacy over their neighbors. This resulted in the breaking of the empire, as factions in Armorica, The Golden Sea and Slaver's Coast each claimed legitimacy. While wealthy, Slaver's Coast could not field the numbers or military support of the Northern factions, and quickly gave up designs on Kornôgel.   Political upheaval continued, and petty kingdoms arose from the Imperial remnants, keeping to themselves until a massive Bleed unleashed the Shifting Sands, wreaking havoc on the continent. The appearance of the city of Iram of the Pillars in the Rub' al Kali and the increased interest of the Northern Lords on Outremer plunged the region into war. The Djinn, an extra-planar race pulled through the bleed, became a powerful force equal to the early incursions of the Sidhe or the Alfr in the North.
