Personal history
The son of Waroch I, King of Gwened, Macliau, then serving as Bishop of Gwened, conspired with his three brothers to depose their father. Celebrating the coup, Chanao, the eldest and leader of the conspiracy poisoned his brothers, with only Macliau escaping. Felix, Bishop of Naoned, arranged for Macliau to swear allegiance to his brother in exchange for clemency, but Macliau instead broke his oath and fled to Ker-Ahes, the seat of Conomor the Cursed, King of Poher and Roc'han. Conomor buried Chanao in a sealed coffin, declaring him dead in the grave when Chanao arrived in pursuit. The two then conspired to overthrow first Chanao, then Waroch, who had retaken control. Waroch refused to acknowledge Macliau's claim and Conomor sacked Gwened, placing Macliau as his puppet.
When Judael, son of Conomor and his Gallian allies took Naoned, Macliau was tried and executed by Felix for his support of Conomor, and executed. He was posthumously excommunicated by the Southern Church
