45.0 - Flight

Sil'Ferrous now will occaisionally see "ghosts" of things now that he's used the last charge of the water temple thing.   Holg is angery at Paritet people due to failed sanity save with Ånd.   Ixen can feel the presence of chaotic forces, as well as their absences. He knows the location of Ild, and the general direction of any other living dragon. He is immune to fire damage, but vulnerable to cold.   Kallista +1 sanity check for rifts   Atani took dream research flyer   Wind magic is out of wack because there's no energy magic to counter balance it, unless And releases some of it.

Recap

The fight with the Servitor raged on as lava spilled from the caldera, bringing with it a reforged ally. The obsidian bones of Ild began to lift as the party retreated, the Servitor misty-stepping onto a ledge and out of sight in the dark of night. They pass small groups of miners fleeing their posts and arrive at the gates of Svartgrube.   Two dragons have been resurrected, one heart is primed and another is silent, the Servitor yet lives, and the party seems to be in need of a lift...

The Plan

Current Day Midnight Water Cycle Day 10   There's a roar in the night.   A small group of miners are making their way past the gates into Svartgrube. They are all talking about the loud roar, the strange creatures that started coming up out of the shafts, and the sudden increase in temperature. The line isn't moving slow, but the gate also isn't open all that much. Seems the two guards are at least a little on edge right now.   Party can kill, distract, try and climb around (hard to do) or maybe persuade, because not long after they reach the gates the glow of the restored lava flow is visible behind them (congrats! you restarted the river).   They can try and do something with the town if they want, but with some insight, history, or investigation they'll notice the "ground level" of the buildings is actually higher up from the ground itself, as if this town might've been designed with a lava river in mind. If they still feel the need to try and evacuate people, they can try leading the evac themselves, just advising it be done and ditching, convince some Enforcers to lead it, etc. The safest place to go would acutally probably be Varlmhavon, but obviously Litseivon is closer and unknown if the lava will reach that place (likely, but maybe not destroy the place).   We can fast track them getting back to Litsteivon; no trouble and takes a day.   Smokey Mirrors. It's definitely hazy inside. Tall and thicc firbolg (Pillar) recognizes them. Waits on them, offering an assortment of cigars (magic mushrooms effect). Registrar Adrona Boldstar, code name Snow Dew. She trades in rumors/infos.
  • I can start; how did you get that brooch? Hmmm, guess he really is done with his mother then.
  • What does she know about that brooch/Asriya? The raven is the Ingen family crest; a more common thing for Isfeljor families. Our Preserver worked tirelessly to get her posistion, doing *anything* to rise to the top and get the Servitor's attention and approval for the rank. There's no lack of rumors over Viran's father, but it's definitely not the Servitor; that man's will is stronger than Script stone. And on top of that, the Servitor absolutely hates the child's name, which Asriya thought would honor Vira and please the Servitor.
  • What does she know about the Servitor? He's old; probably the oldest living person in the world. Which means he's smart and experienced; dangerous. And despite the calm exterior he keeps, question anything about Vira or the other companions of the Campaign and he boils over immediately. Which, makes him even more dangerous, but it also makes him stupid, gives him tunnel vision, easier to manipulate if you do it subtly enough.
  • Mmm, since you've been involved with the Servitor so much, what do you know of the Himmelafs? Rumor has it the Servitor has never pushed hard against the Himmelafs because he's related to them in some way; a relic of the past he can't seem to bring himself to quash like all the rest.
  • What does she know about the Himmelafs? Unfortunately, not much. They're an elusive group, only staying grounded in Havon for a day at most before they take off to the skies again for weeks. There's been research done quietly to figure out how they got a ship to fly, but so far no dice. Other than that... it seems they're decendants of an unknown desert people. Given the Servitor's also hails from an unknown desert town, it seems likely they're related.
  • What would she want to know from them? The dragons; what they are, where they came from, what their plan is. What's the Servitor been up to, since he's been silent for weeks now.
Aft is still docked; hasn't left yet (Adrona knows this). He is leaving in the night. Yasmah, Rish, and Ivory are still with him. Seems they haven't found where they're get back to business yet. What will he want in exchange for taking them onboard again? 300 gold, or some other treasure. Perhaps the players can come up with something else.   They set sail. And as soon as Sil'Ferrous goes into his trance, he finds himself dreaming, standing on top of a very large and flat slab of earth, though it doesn't seem to stretch to the horizon, so a plataeu. In front of him is a natural hole, and starting at the very edges the hole turns to script stone all the way down where it opens up to reveal a large cavern full of water.   He looks human, maybe elf-ish? Hard to tell. He has loose barely kept silver hair, and a full-face silver beard. And not just "silver" like "oh he's old" (though he seems older, 50s? He carries himself well, but there's not a lot of physical wear on his face) but like shiny silver. He smiles and locks eyes with you. It's a kind smile, but his gaze is paralyzing. His eyes seem to pierce you, intense; pale blue, jagged irises rimmed with an almost pastel purple (like, white-purple).   "Ah, I am glad to catch you again. Meeting in these dreams is... too difficult to speak properly. Therefore", he smiles mischieviously, "I have made a quick and rash decision. The sensation is strange... Mmmm. I have sent my people to escort you to me. Now that you are on the water, I will guide them to you."   At dawn, there's trouble. 5 ships fast approaching them from behind (Litseivon). Loaded with small cannons and mages that begin firing at them. Skill challenge to hold them off or try and escape as Aft tries to outrun them, realizing they probably can't with the wind as unreliable as it's been so he starts steering them towards the sandy shores of Gulgrennjor. He's thinking if they survive the crash, they *might* have a chance to get distance on foot. But they aren't going to make it; the ship is getting torn to pieces and limping along.   And then the wind suddenly starts blowing a single direction; east. A dragon-shaped shadow appears in the sky above. Cyclones appear as a barrier between them and the pursuing ships. And then a rush of air whips around them as the large shadow descends, hovering kinda diagonal from them.   A rope is lowered. "Bevarelse says you're the ones we're to bring to him." Says a voice from the vessel.   They find the vessel is composed of large bones and thick reeds, shaped much like a typically ship but with extra "rooms" (hardly anything is "closed", most rooms have 2 walls usually made of the reeds) and plenty of "deck" space. All in all, there's not a lot of excess "stuff" here; no furniture, only sleeping mats, a few woven baskets, everything seems easy to pack and pick up quick.   They refer to themselves as Varls.   Himmelaf leader, True Fang (True). Tabaxi male, long ears lined with black fur on the edges that come to a point that trails off into long lock of fur. Golden sand color with white underside. Angular face with white jowels, spot of white on nose, and black where his whiskers are. Robes cover a little less, as the fur does its job to protect him from the sun.   Himmelafs total about 50. They wear thick, light colored robes that are loose but tied down in spots, covering most of their darker-colored skin. A mix races, but notably there are elves who seem quite old. They would remember Zaru when he was a child. How rebellious, loud, and reckless he was, always getting him and his brother into trouble. His parents didn't survive the Plight.   The Himmelafs are not happy about having everyone on board. They only do it because Bevarelse asked them to, but do not trust the party or Aft+.   They are given a single room to share between all of them, as well as some food and water skins.
