Goliath Lore

Goliaths are the result of a mixture of giant and common folk blood. The first Goliaths born were born to human, elf, and dwarvish women, and every time the mother would die in childbirth. These first Goliaths were then raised by their giantish fathers. The mixture of blood resulted in a race that stands easily two feet taller than any other, and has literal stone making up their bones, and a thick, syrupy blood that flows through their veins. The Goliaths tend to dwell in the deepest depths of the world in close proximity to their cousins; the giants, but a few make their way to the surface, and are then fascinated by what they find there.

Goliaths take after their giantish ancestors when it comes to their anatomy. Their bones are made of literal rock, with their muscles being tight-knit tendons entwined all over one another, forming chain reactions that all work together simultaneously to retract and extend the limbs, and their heard is a big, meaty chunk of flesh that is perpetually beating with the noise of a snare drum to keep up on pumping the syrupy thick blood throughout the Goliath's body.

The Goliaths are the result of when some of the giants would briefly visit the surface shortly after the fall of the Great Dwarvish Kingdoms, and on occasion there would be a mixing of the blood of giants and men. In any case where the mother was human, neither the mother nor the child would survive, so in all occasions, the Goliaths were born deep underground in the vast cities of the Giants, which lent to the Goliaths an ability to see in the dark and also allowed them to fully use their incredibly strong bodies to survive in the harsh environment that the underground poses to all non-dark creatures. As a result of this, many of the Goliaths born do not survive their childhood. For the most part these Goliaths don't venture to the surface, so there aren't many who have actually ever seen a Goliath, but those who have can attest to their massive size, and their brutal nature. Due to being underground, the Goliaths haven't really been affected by the many events that happened on the surface, but that doesn't mean that they don't have their own conflicts that occured in their history, but it does mean that there are no records of such conflicts, as the Goliaths never saw it as something worth writing down, as their entire history has been filled with fighting for survival and conflicts.
