Ana Bands

Ana Bands are wrist-bands worn by Amnari living in Exclusion Zones that reduce the harmful effects of unstable kata produced by living close to active Gaps. Constructed by Artificers, ana bands are effective at reducing the decaying effects of unstable kata on biological cells, and are especially useful in the treatment of kata-related syndromes, such as Katafibrosis Syndrome and Kata-metastasis.   Ana bands are usually worn on the non-dominant wrist or ankle, depending on the preference of the wearer. Unlike Slates, which are made of Slate Glass, ana bands are usually made from metals. The metal depends on the needs of the wearer, given the higher levels of allergies and sensitivities to materials within the Exclusion Zones. The metals must also be ethically sourced and then expanded by Artificers, to ensure a minimal impact on the environment and individuals tasked with collecting them. The bands also feature integrated slate glass to manage katarised elements.

Discovery

Ana bands were initially developed as a means to assist in the support of individuals living in Exclusion Zones. They were first intended to allow primary named watchers to monitor people under their care when not present. However, they quickly became useful as a support for the rest of the population. This required additional research in order to ensure that the bands were not impacted by being in close range to an open Gap, if they were to be worn and used by the Classes charged with frontline defence of the Line.
