The Ivory Faces

The Ivory Faces have, since the dawn of Perdica, served and protected the High Lord of Perdica.
As soldiers they don't answer to anyone but the High Lord.
An Ivory Face is selected for his physical worth, fighting qualities and, most importantly, his psychological aptitude. When a soldier becomes an Ivory Face he cease to be human, he needs to be loyal and cold blooded, but he also needs to forget mercy and honor. The High Lord must become his only reason to live, and many human characteristics like empathy and love are rooted out of him. Ivory Guards are in some cases emasculated to further their separation from their human past.
An Ivory Face gets in return a noble-like life quality, with servants and slaves ready to make him happy, and a pension that may bring a poor family into a palace. Many poor families give their strongest child away hoping for him to become an Ivory Face and bring wealth to them, sacrificing his person.

Armor and Weaponry

Heavily armored with metal scales. But what identifies better these warriors is the iconic helm with complete mask to cover their faces. The helm and parts of the armor are usually painted in white.
They usually carry a large round wooden shield, one or two javelins, a short curved sword and a small hatchet.

History

Deriving from the ancient Kyb guard, the Ivory Faces were first brough to Perdica by Mokide during the rebellion
