Activity: Tutoring

"I cannot teach anybody anything. I can only make them think."
--Socrates   A student with a good knack for a specific topic or an aptitude for teaching and explaining things may choose to spend their time tutoring other students. If successful, the tutor will grant the tutee advantage on an upcoming exam, or even increase their grades.
Activity Type Time Stress Health Description

Stipend

Tutoring is encouraged by the Academy. A student who performs Tutoring duties may collect 5 gp every time they use the Tutoring activity, as long as they've registered their efforts with the school and are not currently under probation.

Tutoring for an Exam

To tutor another student for an exam, they must use the Studying  activity while you use the TUTORING activity. When the student makes an Ability Check to successfully study, you also roll the same ability check.   If neither roll succeeds, you (the tutor) take 1 point of Stress. If one roll succeeds, the student is prepared for the exam, as per the Studying and Exams rules. If both rolls succeed, not only is the student prepared for the exam, they also gain a Student Die (+1d4) they can use once during the exam.

Tutoring for Grades

Students who are worried about their grades may receive tutoring from other students. This is more time consuming than preparing for a test.   To successfully increase another student's grades, the tutee and the tutor must both spend 5 time points on this activity. Each time, this inflicts +1 stress to the tutee. This does not need to be consecutive. At the end of that period, the tutor and the tutee may both roll an Ability check (using a relevant skill for one of their classes).
  • Both Rolls Fail: The tutor and the tutee each suffer +1 stress.
  • One Roll Succeeds: The tutee's grades improve by +1
  • Both Rolls Succeed: The tutee's grades improve by +2
