Personal history

Magus Raulnor is an open book. Unfortunately, that book is extremely poorly organized. She happily talks about her entire life story with anyone who asks, recounting how her father vanished under mysterious circumstances for which her mother was imprisoned in the clockwork gnomish redoubt of Isurtzen, nestled inside a mountain down the sides of which three waterfalls flow. Her grandparents took her in and gave her an excellent education composed largely of stolen books. Her classroom was a ramshackle home bolted to the side of the mountain, in constant danger of falling off during windstorms, rain, earthquakes, or somebody walking too loudly nearby. She had few friends growing up but that never bothered her, because that gave her more time for math and studies.   This aptitude and natural genius attracted the attention of Ioth Academy, and she was recruited in childhood to undergo training at the school. She was placed in the Great Hall, spent a few years working as an assistant in the college of Artifice, but then decided to try her luck in the world as an adventurer. While she made many friends and saw many sights, ultimately her party ran afoul of Iron Butchers, and she gave up the adventuring life. Her descriptions of the horrors the Iron Butchers perpetrated are cheerfully delivered, even as she describes the horrors they inflicted on her friends.   She returned to Ioth Academy to study at the Towers. When the refugee settlement outside came under attack over fifty years ago she joined the defenses, losing some of the only teachers she'd grown close with during that time.    Ever since then, Tana Raulnor has contentedly taught numerology. She cares deeply about her students and their success.
