Embassy Committee
The Embassy Committee is the elected, parliamentary civilian government which oversees the day-to-day operations of the Embassy Ark. In the Pyxis Globula, their predecessors were initially known as the Order of Wardens, an Imperial secret society tasked with keeping the existence of the unsettled Yoni Ark hidden. During the Great Jump, the Wardens accepted non-Boshaari operatives into their ranks and eventually reformed into the Committee. As survivors moved away from the disassembling Ark and into new colonies, the Committee eventually became the executive branch of a parliamentary system which advises, and votes on, its propositions.
The Committee is a sovereign state - one funded by trade, with a huge competitive advantage thanks to its shipyards, and backed by an economy focussedon tourism, biotech and aerospace. The damaged crystalline substance is no longer suitable for a Dive Drive the size of Embassy's, but perfectly meets standards for smaller-scale drives seen across Elpis. However, such reserves will not last for more than a few decades, and Embassy has sought other methods of acquiring profit and keeping itself aloft. Embassy companies make use of the Embassy Ark's shipyards and hollowed-out spaces to build many of the hulls and dive-drives used by nearly everybody in the Elpis system, and at such they have a vested interest in controlling mines across the moons of Hestia. Following the rise of Zhovia Kharasa at the head of its executive branch, the Committee has seen heavy investment by Boshaari and Hiderid companies which help keep Embassy afloat.
The Committee oversees ArkSek (Embassy Ark security services) as well as the operations of the Arkblazer Order. Despite its asserted good intentions, the Committee is organized as an oligarchy and often suppresses dissent and activity across Embassy. Criticism often focuses on the status of workers living on the Ring-Below, who suffer from low quality of life and even lower wages in the name of efficiency.
