Hyr Bogwyn was a Zaalan engineer and union activist whose activism and arrests by Coalition authorities stirred Zaalan unrest and created the modern-day Zaalan rights movement. He was described as a visionary and an idealist, but he was often criticized by Hiderid of all standings for his inflammatory behaviour and his refusal to accept the colonial corporations' use of mostly Zaalan (but also Hiderid) indentured labour.
