Steppe Nomads
The Steppe Nomad culture is unusual in that it is shared by two racial groups, on almost equal but separate terms.
The steppe nomads are one of the two main cultural groups of the Temukar Elves. It is also the culture of the Reavers, a Humans cultural group that migrated up into the steppe zone, adopted the culture of the Temukar they found there, and managed to survive in this mainly Elven area.
The inhabit a long stretch of open steppe that runs from west to east.
The base of nomad culture is the clan. Clan membership is purely based on bloodline - no outsider can ever join the clan. This is why the human and elven clans are still completely separate, despite sharing a common culture.
Other clans of the nomads are regarded as inferior, but still superior to non-nomads. Non-nomads are regarded with contempt.
The only thing that nomads respect is power and strength. The values of mercy or self-sacrifice are completely unknown to them.
Ideals
Gender Ideals
Equality between the sexes is the norm for all the steppe nomad clans.
Relationship Ideals
Like most other elven cultures, the steppe nomads do not practice monogamy. The Rovers have adopted this practice as well, despite being human. Clan membership is passed down the female line.
