Lost City of Ishtria

A legendary Lost City, Ishtria is said to be rich and powerful beyond imagining, with every kind of creature living side by side.

Ishtria is known to sages from the records of the Ancient Godossean Empire. The first recorded appearance of the Ishtrians is in Godossean court records from c. 3700 B.C., just a few hundred years after Godossea’s founding. The two had diplomatic and trade relations, and Ishtrian courtiers are sometimes described, especially their strange and elaborate fashions.    In the centuries after the fall of Godossea in the last millenium, there were occasional references to ‘Ishtrian Ambassadors’ at the courts of the Cernoa and Fealand, but they quickly disappear from history. No one has heard from Ishtria in almost a thousand years. No one knows what happened to them, and no one has been able to find the city. Locating Ishtria is especially difficult because no one seems to have known where it was in ancient times, either. No merchants or explorers ever traveled there, and its location was kept a strict secret by the Ishtrians encountered in the world.   Ishtria rarely appears in the same place on any two maps. It’s location is not known, but rumors have placed it deep in the Tanatran Mountains, underground with the dwarves, in the Ahntuan Jungles , or somewhere in the Tarqan Plains. Some say they live far to the north, and the devils of Kuroshar now lie between Ishtria and the rest of the continent of Ter'esreal. Some say the Ishtrians all left Ter'esreal for lands across the ocean. Legend has it that their king is an immortal were-tiger named Ausrael.
