Tatyana
Tatyana Romanova
Tatyana was the beloved of Sergei von Zarovich, and of his older brother Strahd. She was born in the once-nameless valley that became Barovia. She was a druid who lived in the woods but frequently found herself in the villages of the valley. She was dedicated to the local deity of the valley, one of the two in the valley who had spoken directly to them. She had a gentle but strong heart. She was primarily a healer, but didn't shy away from picking up a weapon if it meant defending her home.
Tatyana's magical and medical skill gained her a great reputation among the people of the valley, and it was for this reason that she was summoned to Castle Ravenloft to assist Count Strahd with his wartime wounds. While at the valley, she caught the eye not only of Strahd, but his younger brother Sergei. Oblivious to Strahd's affection, it was the more forward Sergei that began to court her. She eagerly returned his affection, and the two announced their marriage barely two years later.
Tatyana's life ended in tragedy, however. The day before their wedding, Tatyana entered her betrothed's room to find him dead in the arms of his brother. Horrified, Tatyana fled, and was pursued. Strahd cornered her on a balcony, and she defended herself. The two had a brief fight, which ended when Tatyana drew Strahd close, drove her dagger between his ribs, and pulled them both down over the balcony edge down the rocky cliffs below.
