General Summary

Participants: Sof as Katia DeCalthaar, the bookish, rule-following High-Elf Wizard Vegard as Olivia Turn, the Dickenesque Rouge with a glittering display of magic Emma as Irma Portia, the airheaded monk connected to good vibes and auras Lee as Laymon Stone, the multilingual substance-reliant Firbolg The party starts on their seperate trips to their first seminar in Evocations as part of Ex.Arc200. Irma pays the fee to be teleported early, while Katia takes it upon herself to make sure the whole class is there, finding John North along the way. She also picks up Olivia, who hangs around in the hallway, and Laymon, who is speedwalking the opposite direction by accident. They arrive at their seminar by the Practice Grounds, quaint stone paths and amphitheatres by the lakeside. There, they are greeted by Olec the Goblin alumi assistant and their new Wood-Elf professor Teamûn. After a quick pop-quiz, the seminar is split in two groups, one staying behind for a combat demonstration. That's our party. They are faced with eliminating several lesser elementals, with a focus on displaying evocation spells. This is solved with some basic magic missiles, interesting use of monk abilities to affect the mephits, some lucky chaos bolts and some carefully cloaked sneak attacks in magic sparkles. John North is set aflame. All these observations are the professors of course. While he commends their strenghts, he still finds much room for improvement. Thus, the class is given a test to hand in and do by noon the next day. The party moves over to the assistant's office to get handed their test. They will have to write a report, practice a demonstration and find a third level spell, something normally above the students' level. While there, Olivia also descretly grabs some reports from earlier years to get an idea of how the test is done. After a short visit to the nurse due to the earlier combat, they all sit down at the library. There, they go over their task, and determine to try accessing the restricted sections to find a spell scroll to copy. Katia uses her connections to the kindly librarian to get a one-time entrance into the section. Olivia grabs ten keys behind the counter, seemingly to the harder to access sections. They get passage through the Paladin library-guard preaching knowledge and truth, and start rumaging the first layer. Olivia does a sneaky little shuffle of keys so that Irma, who have already caught on, can act innocently as she gains access to the second layer of restrictions. Katia has a breakdown over bending the rules. In the 2nd layer, they find several level 3 spell scrolls, many of which are in a obscure language. Chosing a Lightning Bolt scroll written in Ignan, Laymon transelates using comprehend languages, while Katia crafts the spell. Olivia uses previous reports to structure and write a report for the project, and Irma practices the somatic movements to assist in the demonstration. Waking up after a long night of rehersals, Katia is boosted by some experimental coffee from Laymon, encouraging words from Irma, and a solid written paper by Olivia, who had returned the stolen keys seemingly undetected. At the seminar, Teamûn skims the report, and is then shown a beautiful and rage-fuelled Lightning Bolt accross the lake. The party all pass their first obligatory student work, and will meet for lecture next monday, now eligble for exam.
