There are multiple continents on the world of Anderon, but this story begins on the continent of Iondur. Riddled with different factions and nations, intrigue and war are no stranger to these lands, but neither are mystery, secrets and the unknown.   In the middle of the continent lies the largest swath of land, controlled by the Melchorian empire. The Melchorian empire consists of multiple provinces, each ruled by its own governor. While the empire has control over all the provinces, they also have a certain amount of independence, which has led to some conflicts in the past. The current ruler of the empire is Evelina Elheim III from House Sigmund, who took over the rule from her husband after his recent passing.   To its west, the empire is bordered by the Osmeldar Ocean, which contains multiple smaller islands, who often serve as trade partners for some rare goods. Some of them fall under the empire, some of them are independent, but all of them enjoy the protection from the Western Iondur Confederation, an alliance between the empire and a few city states on the western shores of the Leandros Peninsula. The Confederation maintains a fleet the protects the western border from the continent against any invasions or piratism that may occur.   The Leandros Peninsula lies to the south of the empire and consists of a relatively small and jumbled landmass which surrounds the Gulf of Ainas, crowded with an even more jumbled mess of both small and large islands. The factions on Leandros are mostly independent city states. Alliances, pacts and treaties come and go, and once in a while someone will come along and try and unite all the cities on the Peninsula, although this hasn't had any long-standing success. Devotion to not only gods, but also other powerful and otherwordly entities, is deeply rooted into people on the Peninsula. Most city states will have a certain diety that all its inhabitants worship.   Between the Melchorian empire and the Leandros Peninsula lie the Kraghorn mountains. The mountains are inhabitated by the people of Kraghorn-Mur, a kingdom of Dwarves. The mountains serve as a neutral ground between the factions to the north and the south, and as a result the Dwarves often organize or preside peace talks or treaties between conflicting nations. Many inhabitants of the mountains are actually quite skilled in the study of law, philosophy and history. Kraghorn-Mur does have a militia, but its mostly used to protect them against the dangers deep in the mountains, rather than any other nations on the continent.   To the north of the Melchorian empire are the Aramara Sands, a large, mysterious desert. Its barren and dry environment makes it unsuitable for any kind of comfortable living, leading most of the desert to be unexplored. Many an adventurer has travelled into the desert in search of riches or knowledge, but only few have returned. The ones that do return talk of luxurious cities, mysterious ruins and strange beasts and monsters, although how much of this is true is decidedly questionable.   To the the east of the empire is the Frigid Expanse, a sea that has been frozen over for hundreds of years. While fishing and trade is attempted through the waters, a lot of the economy at the sea is actually based around the 'Purple Ice', a highly desired resource on the continent of Iondur. Because the Melchorian empire is surrounded by so many extreme weather environments, it has strong links to the elemental planes, especially where the Aramara Sands and the Frigid Expanse meet.
