'Dwarven Medical Burrow'
Dwarves had learned long ago that disease was not something to be messed with, so the 'Dwarven Medical Burrow' was built. Originally focused on controlling disease, they have expanded their focus to include physical injures from things such as battle and mining accidents
The Purpose / Function
In a relatively cramped Dwarven city, disease can quickly become an issue if not dealt with. The 'Dwarven Medical Burrow' was constructed to house and heal the sick.
Alterations
While the burrow was originally built to quarentine the sick, it was quickly expanded to deal with physical injuries as well. Additional rooms, slime pits, storage rooms, and medicinal growing tunnels were added on.
Architecture
The 'Dwarven Medical Burrow opens up to a large room lined with several beds in the middle for temporary patients and containers for frequently used medicines, potions, and tools. At the far end of this room is the entrance to the quarantine tunnels. These tunnels branch into smaller rooms meant to house those that are very sick. Branching from the main room is the storage room, which houses spare medical supplies, and areas to produce more medicine. This room also houses a slime pit, a hole in the ground deep enough to contain pink slimes. From this room extends a few smaller growing tunnels, were medicinal plants are grown for easy access.
History
The 'Dwarven Medical Burrow' was created shortly after a major disease swept through the city, and wiped out most of the population. Wanting to avoid losing the rest of the inhabitants to the disease, the ruler at the time ordered the construction of a facility to help the sick.
After the disease was brought under control the 'Dwarven Medical Burrow' continued to be a place of healing, and was expanded to hold more patients and store more supplies.
