Worldspire Mountains
The Worldspire Mountains have long since been believed to be entirely impassible - some even consider the mountains to be the edge of the world itself, unending and filled with enemies that grow in strength and numbers the deeper you go. The mountains serve a purpose, however, as the western border of the Kingdom of Acarius .
Geography
The rising spires of rock that form the Worldspire Mountains serve as a wall of stone for the Kingdom of Acarius , but also as her primary source of freshwater. The multiple passes between mountains form a labyrinth, easy to get lost, easier to be skewered by those who have taken up residence there. The cave networks that have been observed by kingdom rangers are often occupied by hostile beasts - though no large clans have been seen within scouting range in centuries.
Ecosystem
The ecosystem of the Worldspire Mountain range is simple - eat or be eaten. The few patches of forest on the lower faces of the mountains are perfect breeding grounds for smaller animals such as goats, rabbits, mice, and various songbirds. Population control is seemingly done during the colder months of the year, when larger predators move further down the slopes. Wolves, bears, and other beasts take up residence on the lower portions of the mountains, feasting on the small game native there. This also seems to allow the larger and more vicious beasts and monsters near the peaks time to multiply.
