Session 9-10: This Village is Weird, and this New Guy is Weirder
General Summary
After reveling in the warm embrace of the Seabreeze Inn, the party's anticipation grew as they embarked on a crucial journey to Rubyt Island, where their destinies intertwined with the legendary red dragon that plagued the land. After skillfully haggling with the ship's captain, they secured passage to the island for 300 GP per person. Before their departure, they sought the aid of the Mystic Materia, where Orion's affiliation with The Order of the Scribes earned them a well-deserved discount on spell materials. With their supplies restocked and spirits lifted, the adventurers sailed for a treacherous 10-day journey until they finally reached the tropical haven of Redwater.
Welcomed with open arms, the party was ushered into the heart of the village where they were treated like royalty. Festivities ensued, and amidst the celebration, the villagers learned of their purpose on the island—to vanquish the dreaded red dragon. As the night wore on, the heroes rested under a sky painted with stars, preparing for the arduous quest that lay ahead.
As the sun painted the sky with hues of dawn, the party set forth, their hearts beating with anticipation and resolve. Following their instincts and keen investigative skills, they traced the dragon's lair to the old ruby mines. Now abandoned, the once bustling mines were reduced to a perilous labyrinth of twisting tunnels and narrow corridors. Undeterred, Orion and Jumbalaya volunteered to scout ahead.
Their footsteps echoed in the dimly lit depths as they ventured deeper into the mines. But fate had other plans when an unstable cave floor gave way beneath Orion, plunging him into a nest of vile spiders. Swiftly, they were locked in a life-or-death struggle with three Giant Spiders. After a harrowing battle, the two survivors escaped the deadly web, their breaths heavy with relief as they returned to the safety of their companions.
Seeking solace in rest and recovery, the party took time to heal their wounds and replenish their supplies. Meanwhile, Jumbalaya, driven by curiosity, set out to scout the surrounding wilderness. There, he encountered an enigmatic figure clad in attire reminiscent of the Morstuus Concord, accompanied by a remarkable companion—a large goat named Jacque. Bosheah Sinstar, or Bo, introduced himself to Jumbalaya and expressed his shared goal of hunting down the red dragon. Invited to join the party, Bo and Jacque became valuable additions to the cause.
With renewed determination, the party returned to the mines, pushing further into the heart of darkness. After a strenuous journey, they arrived at a cavernous opening, with three rope bridges suspended over a lava pit. However, their hopes of an uneventful passage were shattered when they fell into an ambush by a cunning tribe of goblins. A ferocious battle ensued, leaving the air thick with tension and the ground stained with the blood of adversaries.
The heroes' blades glistened with triumph as they emerged victorious, their eyes now firmly set on their ultimate objective—the lair of the red dragon. The quest for the island's salvation was nearly over, and the fate of Ruby Island rested on the shoulders of these brave souls, united in their purpose to bring down the formidable and malevolent beast.
