The Travels of a Lone Artificer
Day One:
I have decided to keep notes on my life, because apparently that's what Artificers do, at least mad ones do… I must be mad to hang out with all these weirdos. They're pretty good weirdos though, I'm pleased to travel with them for now. My name is FlintknappJuryriggTensorbeltFarflinger… but I was told by Kain that most non-gnomes can't really deal with all that, so you can call me "Flynn".
Kain the Human was my first companion, he was a terrible lightweight but a pretty good fighter. Had a pretty serious obsession for coin and gems. By the time our adventures here start, he's decided eventually to go on his own path, but he was pretty good for a human.
Afdani is this quiet Tiefling who really likes to hit things, and she's pretty good at it when she hits. Recently she's shown some interest in brewing, so I'm planning to share some of my supplies. This is the closest to actual science any of my traveling companions seem to have gotten yet.
Thornlynn the Dwarf really loves trees and wood which feels out of character for a dwarf, but it's kinda his thing, also oddly focused on cooking. He also seems to be convinced that he's not magical, despite all evidence to the contrary.
Naja the Minotaur is our party leader, probably because we're all afraid to tell her otherwise, she might get disappointed. Other than the religion talk and trying to make friends with literally everyone we meet, she has been pretty great. She seems to be fond of me, treating me as though I were her child or something. Worries about me exploding all the time, even when I'm just taking care of problems with perfectly normal blasts of fire!
Anyway, enough about the crew. On to the adventure…
We arrived in Oakhurst today, there's some evidence of a recent Goblin attack. They seem to be getting smarter and adapting their tactics. Lighting things on fire and such. Might be worth seeing if contact can be made.
The priestess at the chapel thing said someone named Follow-seal would know more so we'll go see her soon. Right now we're leaving the stupid horse at a place called the Old Boring Inn. An apt name. I am going to ride around on Kaida, she's functioning almost as well as I could hope other than the whole 'sniffing horse butt' thing.
Apparently the goblins are coming from the Sunless Citadel that we actually came here to find. That's pretty convenient. I'm going to try to suggest we go check it out, the humans here seem to be getting overwhelmed. I don't really want to stick around to see them get squished.
