Calim Lucian
Lucian Calim (a.k.a. Calm Calim)
Immortalized in stone at the gates of the castle named for him, in the city named for him, lies the grand visage of Calim, Bringer of Light, and founder of the society that has become the Lucian Empire. While his words have become twisted over the years, and his intentions lost, his fleeting time on this world was marked by great change, and for better or worse, he had a large hand in making the lands of today.

Mental characteristics
Gender Identity
Male
Sexuality
Calim was always a very busy man, and was never particularly interested in romance or sex, so it is unsurprising his eventual wife was a very forward woman. He had to basically be dragged into the bedroom, always too busy with things like diplomacy or planning infrastructure. He was not a sexual man, but his wife was successful in having bearing him heirs, in the end.
Education
Formal education beyond job training did not exist under the angels, but afterward he was taught of literacy by a monk, and of combat by an elven exile.
Employment
As a young man, he worked at a lumber mill, turning trees into wood for the angelic war machine. Unfulfilled by this line of work, he saw his chance to become something greater in the aftermath of the loss of the guidance of the angels. He became a unifier, and ultimately was heralded as the founder of a government born from the ashes of the angelic rule.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Using diplomacy to stop Elven raids on his village, destruction of the system of angelic worship and replacement with set of values that encouraged cooperation and self-determination, unification of the Lucian Democracy after the loss of the angels, successful transfer into the Lucian Republic, having a loving wife and children who grew to make him proud.
Failures & Embarrassments
Tried to escape from the rule of the angels, shortly before the end of the Age of Angels. He survived in the woods for just over a week before a close brush with death against a boar brought the gravity of life alone to him. He ended up traveling to another village, where they accepted him and allowed him to use his strong body to help around town, mostly with moving the stocks of grain the town fed to the angels. After realizing there was nothing more fulfilling about this new town, and knowing he couldn't go it alone, he returned to his original village, to much fanfare and worry from his fellow villagers.
He was able to convince a small band of elves to stop raiding his village after the angels had disappeared, but at the price of costing one of them their membership in the tribe. While the elf was not particularly bothered by this, he still felt guilty about the incident for a long time after.
As he became more and more enamored with the idea of representative rather than direct democracy as the land that pledged loyalty to his cause grew, it distanced his good friend, the elf Moeiya, who had taught him all he knew of combat and hunting. Moeiya took many humans away with him to travel far away, and create a system where people truly ruled themselves, like they had set out to do in the beginning.
Mental Trauma
During his attempt to escape the rule of the angels, he realized that neither the angel assigned to the village he was in, nor the angel assigned to his own village ever realized anything was amiss. There were no search parties allowed to go after him, no reaction from either one when he arrived in their village. He came to the conclusion that the angels did not care for any of the humans under their watch, no matter what their roles as benevolent guardians might have implied. They might as well be slaves, or, to the obviously superior species of angels, they might even be seen as humans saw horses, or cattle.
Intellectual Characteristics
A very down-to-earth person. Enjoys action to thought and posturing. Very personable and likable, always tries his best to be in a good mood. Genuinely tries to connect with others, and considers cooperation paramount. Distrusts worship, especially of angels. Believes people should rely on each other.
Morality & Philosophy
At first, he simply wished to be independent from angels, but after they disappeared from the world, he saw that he wanted people to believe in one another, instead of waiting for the angels to return. He saw the angels as oppressors, and thought people should rule themselves instead of having someone decide for them. After long nights conferring with his good friend, the elf Moeiya, they created a primitive democracy. Many years later, Calim began to see the merits of a representative republic over a direct democracy as his lands expanded
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Wants people to believe in one another and live for themselves, in a world where favors are given freely and all who meet each other are friends, not strangers. Seeing the angels as oppressors, he seeks to rid the world of their influence.

Skilled with a blade, terrible at dealing with the guilt that comes with using one on another person

Virtues & Personality perks
Ambidextrous, driven, kind, genuine, charismatic, quick to lose grudges against people, quick to cool off his temper.

Hygiene
Usually takes good care of himself, but can sometimes get too absorbed in his pursuits to remember to clean himself after exercise or eating.
Social
Family Ties
Stripped from his parents at a young age to train on the lumber mill, he was never able to form a very close bond, especially with the angelic wisdom that connection with them and the system was more important than interpersonal connection. His wife was a very fierce person, and just as driven and determined as he was but driven to give him a happier family than the one they had both grown up with. His two boys loved him very much, even if his work kept him a little busy, until it was them that was busy with work. Him and his sons were both closer to the mother, but she acted the part of the glue well, and kept them all together.
Religious Views
Hated the idea of worshiping the angels. Actively sought to destroy organized religion during his life.
Social Aptitude
Balancing intensity and drive with a lighthearted approach to life ins't easy, but Calim managed it. A natural-born leader, more than capable of giving rousing speeches and spreading determination and inspiration. These qualities left him feeling constrained under the yoke of the angels, who had lead people into simple lives far better than he could lead them to glory.
Mannerisms
Always very blunt, almost incapable of dancing around subjects. Becomes angry when people try to withhold information from him. Makes an effort to greet people loudly and warmly, no matter the current situation.
Wealth & Financial state
Originally quite poor as a young man, as luxury was hard to come by when all resources were channeled to the angels. Inadvertently, as he became recognized by more and more as the head of government, larger tithes came into him, which his wife was sure to spend wisely on comfortable living for him and his sons.
