Lucian Empire

Founded immeasurable years ago by the now legendary Calim. His philosophy has echoed on through the ages since his passing, strong in it's simplicity; the angels will not return, so trust your fellow man. In the chaotic land that evolved after the angels left, Calim rose to power and began to restore order to the lands around him. From his efforts bloomed what came to be known the Lucian Empire, after the epithet of "Lucian" that Calim adopted, an angelic word meaning "bright". To this day, the northern continent of Lux remains within the reach of the Empire, even if Erys and the Heartlands have been lost.

Structure

The most direct descendant of Calim heads the operation of the government at Calim's Seat in the center of the continent Lux. Under him are provincial lords, all descended from great heroes, generals, scientists and artists of the past. All of these named houses form the nobility of Lucia

Military

The Lucian military has been, for a very long time, simply a method of posturing. Town guards and road patrols still make their rounds, and young, impressionable men make their way to Ehrmond's Wall, but most have grown lax in their duty, which was why the rebellions that lead to the creation of the heartlands 80 years ago were so successful. Lucia has no enemies among man; the people are happy. Why would a military buildup be necessary? What could threaten the Empire and it's people?

Religion

Ancestor worship and the veneration of bloodlines and past heroes are the closest that Lucians come to practicing religion. Calim founded the Empire with a bitter taste in his mouth from the way people worshiped the angels, and as an influential figure in that time, his mantra of belief in his fellow man was followed perhaps a bit too closely. Over the ages, it has shifted from a simple way to remind people to band together into a culture where people worship other people. Kings, great adventurers, scientists, their names are the ones that are spoken when something is needed.
