Retribution Day

Retribution Day in the Republic of Fevaria is by far the most celebrated and prepared for holiday on the galactic calendar. Ever since the First T'Kiri-Fevarian war, Kenjodan have banded together in national pride to celebrate this holiday, serving as both a remembrance of Orassia and a vow of vengeance against the Keerim.

History

The first Retribution Day was celebrated in 18 BGE, just one year after the loss of Orassia to the T'Kiri Sacred Imperium. Historically, the holiday was originally just a staunch remembrance day to honor those who had fallen in the defense of Orassia, and to a lesser extent the planet itself. Several old songs and poems about Orassia and its defenders are still recited today among Kenjodan, and originated during these early versions of the holiday.
With time, especially after the Fevarian victory during the Third T'Kiri-Fevarian War, the holiday gained a second purpose: to give hope to the people that Orassia would one day be reclaimed.

Execution

A typical Retribution Day will begin with honoring the fallen and remembering Orassia, until mid-day on Fevaria Station, where the celebrations begin. Festivities usually begin with a large mechanical depiction of T'Kiri Supreme Empress Y’Sarkee Koriik being brought into the largest hangar bay on Fevaria Station. From there, it is jettisoned out into space, where elite fighter squadrons take turns doing stunts around the effigy while strafing it with coilguns, then missiles, and then finishing it off with an antimatter missile usually enhanced with patriotic colors of red, blue, and silver. The President will then make a speech telling of a multitude of topics, but largely denouncing the T'Kiri Imperium and the Empress numerous times with extreme emphasis on comedic jabs. They will end their speech, however, with a serious threat to the T'Kiri Imperium that the Kenjodan will one day retake what was once theirs. What happens after that will largely depend on which planet, but battle reenactments, mock trials, friendly competitions, and fireworks are some common events. Near midnight however, the Kenjodan will usually partake in a large feast consisting of traditional foods from Orassia and home-cooked family recipes.

Participants

The President of Fevaria has a special role in giving the infamous speech to all Kenjodan within the nation, and this speech often begins preparation months in advance.
Kenjodan parents and teachers usually also have a large role to play in the first half of Retribution Day. This is the time where young children are educated on the sacrifice of the Fevarian soldiers against the Keerim, and also on how wonderful Orassia used to be before the invasion. It is common for wealthier communities to make use of holodecks or holochambers for Retribution Day in order to more accurately convey what Orassia used to look like.
