Kandou

Kandou is the capital city of Enshihoro and the home of the Kayto and his Imperial Castle.

Demographics

Kandou is a city built in tiers, each tier assigned its own economic range and quality of life. At the top tier overlooking the city is the Imperial Palace, with just below it being the noble district where the Reidei and other nobles live in their mansions. Below that live the lesser nobles and merchants, and from there the city slopes from the higher end markets and suburban homes to the slums on the edges of the city.
A key difference is the existence of the Old District cutting into the edge of the nobility tier where some of the poorest people in the city live, including those who live in the red-light district. The Old District is the area just off the main Old Town in Kandou - Old Town Matsura - and most of the city's undesirables are usually exiled to this edge.
Lastly, due to the various rivers and roads leading to Kandou, in addition to the massive river and lake, there is a large port and fishing community on the areas surrounding the Old District on the edge of the lake that often is the focal point of most trade and commerce in Kandou.
