Death of Cipactli

This marks the time when Tezcatlipoca cut off his foot and used it to bait his father Cipactli. Cipactli touched the foot and died, which transferred his power to Tezcatlipoca, allowing him to take control of the cosmology.

The Antigonians think of the All-Father as Cipactli, a giant crocodile with a large toothy maw. He grew old and feeble and his youngest son Tezcatlipoca cut off his own foot to use as bait to trap Cipactli. This worked and upon Cipactli's death, his power transferred to Tezcatlipoca and he was able to take control of the cosmology and defeat his brother Quetzalcoatl.
