Social Class

History books tell of three social classes or “estates” in the medieval world. There are those who fight (nobles), those who pray (clerics), and those who work (peasants). This paints an incomplete picture, because there is an urban fourth estate, city dwellers. And there is a group that fall outside the estates, as such, a collection that might be called masterless men, or perhaps the Outer Estate.
