Circle of Leaf and Limb
The Circle of Leaf and Limb are the wardens of the wilderness and the guardians of flower, bush and tree. They exist in the furthest places of the way, preferring the quiet of forests, meadows, mountains and even deserts. Due to the remote nature of their work, their numbers are unknown. Few outsiders ever meet an agent of the Leaf and Limb. Many don't even know they exist.
Like their brethren in the Circle of Fur and Feather and the Circle of Decay, they are dedicated to maintaining balance, in this case between the flora of Aorna and the competing forces of nature. They understand that the plant life of the world is the engine that keeps the rest of the environment thriving. But the Circle also views encroaching civilization as a threat to that balance - and they have been known to militantly defend wild spaces against settlement and colonization. In the past, this split in focus has occasionally caused problems, allowing one of the other circles to gain too much power.
Druids of Leaf and Limb often operate alone or in pairs - only coming together with their circles on major holidays, as well as "The Long Dying", the last few weeks of autumn when the leaves have all fallen from the trees. These gatherings are held at a central point within a region or ecosystem, and used to discuss matters of importance to the group, train younger members, as well as to dole out orders from the Chieftains to individual agents. Interestingly, inter-group rivalries and competitions are encouraged within circles, as senior druids believe that it strengthens the group as a whole. "Trees grow taller as they battle to get more light," is a common saying within the organization. As such, Druids of Leaf and Limb will often compete for the best ranging territory or homestead.
While the Circle of Leaf and Limb does have a wider ruling organization across continents and oceans, called an Eclipse (like their brethren), these groups meet only in extreme circumstances. It is believed that it has been more than one hundred years since the last summoning of an Eclipse in the Merchant Sea region. Still, the Circle is lead by a Penumbra, who is typically the most senior of the Chieftains. The current Penumbra of Leaf and Limb is Ekhul, a yuan-ti from deep within the jungles of Yavanshun.
Members of the Circle are often adorned in clothes made from the flora of their region, decorated in beautiful flowers and ferns for ceremonial purposes or thick bark and thorns for defensive purposes. They are often the most colorful of the druidic circles. Their primary symbol is of a thorned bush behind a bright red flower, surrounded by a green circle. However, they have also been known to use reeds, willow trees and blades of grass as an indicator.
