The Luminous Heart's most trusted honor guard, Euwani Illanin is a highly respected warrior and scout for the Icharyd Drow. His knowledge of the ever-shifting passages of the Underdark is unparalleled, as is his loyalty to the Heart and her family.
Euwani has always had a deep interest in the world beyond Icharyd, from the depths of his own realm to the alien cultures of the surface. As a child, he often wandered off into the tunnels around the city, collecting trinkets and artifacts from Icharyd's previous residents. This hobby drew the interest of Drow nobility, and he was enrolled in an elite school for gifted students. It was there that Euwani befriended Jaiyl, the youngest of the Luminous Heart's fifteen children. They shared a passion for exploration and archaeology and would often ditch class to visit the palace's archives or dig through ancient cave sites.
After graduation, Euwani agreed to join Jaiyl's personal honor guard and he accompanied her on expeditions closer and closer to the surface, acting as a guide and protector from the dangers of the Underdark. He was so trusted by the Luminous Heart that Euwani eventually rose in the ranks to stand by the Heart herself, and to escort her on her rare trips to visit with Aracian dignitaries. Euwani delighted in his time in the sun and wind and came to love interacting with surface dwellers, using the time to learn all he could about their culture.
However, this happiness would not last. Euwani was present when the Anoch'Toval invaded Icharyd, using alien technology to infiltrate and overwhelm his people. He watched as The Luminous Heart was torn from her throne and killed and his brethren in the honor guard were slaughtered.
He escaped, just barely, gathering stray Drow along his way, eventually finding Jaiyl's latest expedition site - and informing her of her mother's death. Jaiyl and Euwani led these three-hundred or so refugees towards the surface, convinced that the Anoch'Toval had taken complete control over Icharyd.
It was in these dark moments that Euwani was introduced to the band of adventurers - Jessamine, Khe-Tae, Wislyn, Yuliaster, and Helmut - he would eventually come to call friends. The adventurers stumbled across the refugees in the Underdark tunnels just west of Nansuelo and they agreed to attempt to find the Drow refuge in Aracia.
When his new friends honored this deal, Euwani agreed to help them in return, leading them through the depths of the Underdark, towards Icharyd - hoping to find the missing Sovereign Prince Rodrigo Salemanco. He used his knowledge of the cave structure and of the streets of Icharyd to aid in shutting down the Dispel Field that prevented Ursodar  from being able to use his true power within the borders of the city. He also showed them the easiest way into the palace where Rodrigo was being kept. 
But when Euwani discovered that there was a cluster of his people, left alive, hiding in secret, he urged his friends to let him go and retrieve them. It was in these moments, when Euwani faced near certain death, that he revealed his love for Jaiyl. He departed from his friends, sneaking through the streets of Icharyd while Ursodar decimated the Voidkin forces. 
Euwani was able to recover the 1,200 survivors and lead them to Nansuelo, where Jaiyl and her followers had made camp.
