The Luminous Mind

The youngest daughter of The Luminous Heart, Jaiyl is the reluctant leader of what remains of Icharyd . Once an archaeologist and a scholar, she has been charged with protecting her people in an environment that she is unfamiliar with, but she has risen to the task to become a respected leader in her own right. 
In her youth, Jaiyl would spend hours every day investigating the artifacts in the Icharyd palace archives. This fascination with the cultures who had resided in the city before the Drow led her to the study of archaeology in school. It was during this time that Jaiyl would meet Euwani Illanin, a young man with similar interests. They would often get into trouble together, ducking her honor guard and roaming about the tunnels around the city looking for trinkets and treasures to bring back to the palace.
Since it was assumed that one of her older siblings would eventually take the throne from her mother, Jaiyl received little training in leadership, diplomacy or even the magics that her family had fostered for generations. Instead, she fell back into her passion, becoming a renowned archaeologist, particularly known for her research into the Dwarves who had once called Icharyd home.  
Her expeditions took her closer and closer to the surface and it was on one of these journeys where she discovered the horrible truth of what had happened to Icharyd. Her friend, Euwani, informed her that the city had been invaded by the Anoch'Toval Drow and that her mother, The Luminous Heart, and her whole family had been killed. Only the three hundred survivors that Euwani had collected had managed to survive. 
The survivors looked to Jaiyl for comfort and a solution, which led her to take Euwani's advice and look for answers on the surface - hoping to use her mother's contacts within the Aracian Royal Family. 
She entrusted a band of adventurers to negotiate with what was left of the Salemanco family on her behalf and when they came through, she led her people to the outskirts of Nansuelo, where they constructed a refugee camp for wayward Icharyd Drow. She was overjoyed when Euwani returned from his infiltration of Icharyd with more than a thousand additional survivors. 
Jaiyl remains in Nansuelo and feels a deep loyalty to Rodrigo Salemanco and his family for providing refuge.

Jaiyl is short for a drow, with long wavy white hair with three streaks of pink running back along her head. She wears simple leather travelling gear with a milky stone pressed into her forehead to signify her position.
