Lathlaer Mahr (lath-LAY-er MAR)

During the chaotic three-year period in which the administration of the Federation of Vay scrambled to select a new Magelord, several possible candidates arose, each commanding a significant base of supporters. One of the last three candidates standing was Lathlaer Mahr, an elven man born into an aristocratic family from Olathe. After the Grand Court announced that Novia Celsa would be the next Magelord, Lathlaer Mahr was among Madam Celsa's first picks for the Council; she selected him to replace the previous Consul of Diplomacy. As a former candidate for Magelord, Mahr received strong support from the Federation's elven and immigrant populations, and by accepting the role on the Council, he and Madam Celsa have ensured that his supporters do not reject her administration.
Mahr has previously served as an ambassador to Solisvar and as an executive assistant to multiple previous Magelords in their capacity as the Federation's representative to the Circle of Nine, so he was undoubtedly qualified for the role, but nevertheless many believe that he made a deal to support Madam Celsa's ascension to the throne in exchange for the seat on the Council.
