Birth Cave Ritual

This is the ritual that Danu, Goddess of the Sea sent to Airis for use in the creation of the Vario Grotto Creche. It begins with the discovery/scrying of volcanic vents near sea caves, but not by active volcanoes.

One way is to us lava worms to how out the needed caves before opening then to the sea Another is to use spells to do the same. Whichever way is used, various tunnels, and chambers will be roughed out. Hot and cool water are channeled where needed, airy water is cast on the walls of the birth chamber hidden entrances and air vents are created.

Another way, if a suitable location cannot be found, it to cast a version of Magnificent Mansion linked to a sea cave. This is the easiest, but needs to be linked to a location in the sea for Danu to have it in her purview.

History

The original birth cave was small and cozy, without the extensive tunnel system of later caves.

Participants

Priestesses from the Circle of Women, any nearby priestess, and interested parties.

Observance

This ritual is performed, when a new Vario Grotto Creche needs to be made for the community.

It is a typical sea cave with a pool of water, small strip of sandy beach and rocky platforms along the wall. There is also a vent hole/skylight in the domed ceiling for viewing the stars, moon or sun. Again with a protective barrier.
