Haunted Ruins of Arafell
These ancient Atlantean ruins are the haunt of many ghosts that died during the The Chaos Wars. Their whispers and moans can be heard down the passageways and mists drift throughout any area with wind currents. These ruins were once the city called Arafell, there was not a large Atlantean population, but there were some overseers and slaves. This is one of the first locations where the rebellion began.
Many soldiers from both sides haunt the ruins and surrounding areas because of the many battles that were fought there. Some civilians also died here, these died inside the city while hiding in the bunkers. Many of these that died in the city, haunt here because of their sudden and unexpected or painful death. The Atlantean officers didn't care if they killed their own men during a bombardment as long as the enemy was destroyed in the process.
The mist is thick and cloying, it wanders throughout the streets and hallways. Sometimes seemingly of its own accord with no wind present. It blurs the senses and seems to show you either what you want to see or what you're scared of. Some think it's sentient and something like a psychic vampire. The wind is part of the Mist and helps it disorient people by, whispering in their ears. Combined they net as the audible illusion spell. Constantly speaking in others' ears, moaning, crying, rattling, chains, etc. Some of the spirits of Arafel lurk in the deepest shadows formed by the Mist. They are malevolent and seek revenge for their death. Some of the most powerful spirits can even possess interlopers to help drive off others.
In the center of the ruins is a relic that used to be a Hollow Ones. He used to be part of the security force that kept the peace here. In a weird accident that was a combination of wild magic, and a sudden influx of energy from everyone dying at once he was turned into a relic. This also skewed his programming and unhinged his mind. His unquieted mind sends him wandering through the halls, searching for wrongdoers whenever he finds an outsider. Whenever he finds an outsider in the city, they are scanned for intent, he can sense emotions like guilt. He then judges them accordingly and punishes them.
