This is a group of people that venerate the stars and other celestial bodies as Gods/Goddesses. Some of their places of worship are temples and churches, but others are shrines, universities, observatories, stone circles, etc. They worship whenever and wherever it is needed.
The larger, more structured groups often leave their birth name behind and choose a “starborn” name. Common names are Orion, Sirus, Astra, astral, Celest, Aldebaran, Regulus, Antares, etc. In case of a repetitive name, a descriptive word is added, such as -the red, -the tall, etc. Each group tends to choose their own name and star they wish to follow and search for others of the same proclivity when they join the fellowship. Their name is often chosen after a unique dream or spirit quest before or soon after joining the group.
Many groups are small and only loosely affiliated. They are small, cell-like study groups. Usually, their leader was from a larger group, and many from larger groups often leave to form their own group to spread the teachings of the starborn.
The Starborn is a fellowship of equality. They live a communal life, sharing equally in all things, material or otherwise; food, money, chores, etc. Their leader is the first among equals, more of a chairman than a ruler; it is an elected title and is rotated every 2 years. Usually, if the person seeks the job, they are not considered acceptable to it.
They build libraries, schools, and observatories. Their assets are knowledge.
Their founder is
Sabian Osha Kintana, he is the first known star brother in the Skylands. No one knows if he was taught by someone else or if he created the organization himself. It isn't known for sure which came first the starborn or the
Star Weavers Guild.
No religions are prohibited, starborn study and venerate the stars, it is more of a science like astronomy or astrophysics.
They believe in self-sufficiency, so many either have jobs to help support the Fellowship or do chores to help with the upkeep as needed.
They believe in educating the mind to its utmost. All are trained to their ability, whether its in physical knowledge, theoretical, or religious; it all depends on the persons' proclivity
