Sabian Fellowship of the Stars

Written by Pookas Kreations

This is a group of people that venerate the stars and other celestial bodies as Gods/Goddesses. Some of their places of worship are temples and churches, but others are shrines, universities, observatories, stone circles, etc. They worship whenever and wherever it is needed.

The larger, more structured groups often leave their birth name behind and choose a “starborn” name. Common names are Orion, Sirus, Astra, astral, Celest, Aldebaran, Regulus, Antares, etc. In case of a repetitive name, a descriptive word is added, such as -the red, -the tall, etc. Each group tends to choose their own name and star they wish to follow and search for others of the same proclivity when they join the fellowship. Their name is often chosen after a unique dream or spirit quest before or soon after joining the group.

Structure

Many groups are small and only loosely affiliated. They are small, cell-like study groups. Usually, their leader was from a larger group, and many from larger groups often leave to form their own group to spread the teachings of the starborn. The Starborn is a fellowship of equality. They live a communal life, sharing equally in all things, material or otherwise; food, money, chores, etc. Their leader is the first among equals, more of a chairman than a ruler; it is an elected title and is rotated every 2 years. Usually, if the person seeks the job, they are not considered acceptable to it.

Assets

They build libraries, schools, and observatories. Their assets are knowledge.

History

Their founder is Sabian Osha Kintana, he is the first known star brother in the Skylands.  No one knows if he was taught by someone else or if he created the organization himself. It isn't known for sure which came first the starborn or the Star Weavers Guild.

Religion

No religions are prohibited, starborn study and venerate the stars, it is more of a science like astronomy or astrophysics.

Agriculture & Industry

They believe in self-sufficiency, so many either have jobs to help support the Fellowship or do chores to help with the upkeep as needed.

Education

They believe in educating the mind to its utmost. All are trained to their ability, whether its in physical knowledge, theoretical, or religious; it all depends on the persons' proclivity

Divine Origins

This is unknown, all anyone currently knows is that the sect in the Skylands was started by Sabian Osha Kintana. Some believe that he is one of those that are merged with an Ancient Akkadian.

Cosmological Views

The starborn believes in learning for knowledge's sake. They know more about the universe than they should since they have never left Aquatica. Many of their followers have visited the Astralus, Atlantean, and even the Akkadian Present to learn their science and integrate it their libraries.

Tenets of Faith

Learn all you can with the time you are given and share it far and wide.  From the stars we came, and to the stars we'll return. Knowledge is sacred. Be kind to your fellow beings.

Ethics

Corrupting knowledge is their worst crime. They believe in reincarnation and karma.

Worship

Learning, meditation, and helping fellow beings (whether sentient or not).

Priesthood

Their leader is called Vedic, sub-priests are Kleru, advanced teachers are Guru, and teachers are Tanari.

Sects

Many star weavers follow this path and it is a popular one in the Skylands Continent as well as with the Astralus .  There is a little-known sect of the starborn that seeks a merging with Akadian motes to share their body. This merging lets them learn from each other for a time.

To the stars we will return.
