Ordis

The capital of Roer District and the seat of power of Archduke Leander and his family. Ordis is a beautiful metropolis built atop the Blue Falls waterfall, with most of the city being powered with the water running underneath it. From the tallest buildings of Ordis opens a magnificent view to the North, where on clear days one can see the silhouette of Mater Fortress resting amidst Mater Lake.   Ordis is the focal point of power and authority in the Roer District, being home to the Archduke. Within the halls of the Floating Palace, nobiles and peasants alike are allowed to state their case before the highest authority after the King. It is also within this palace that the gatherings of the Roer nobility occur every few years, in which all the noble families from the entire district appear before the Archduke to report on the progress of their regions of responcibility. The palace also houses the court (which the Archduke presides over), the City Guard barracks, and jail.

Demographics

The majority of the population is human, however there are significant halfling, elf, and half-elf populations. There is a notable number of Triton and even a small population of Tortle.

Government

Ordis is the seat of power of the Leander family. Lavi el Leander is the current patriarch of the family and he presides over the government affairs of Ordis directly. However, as he is a busy man, his viceroy, Amalia Leon, is in charge of minor affairs of governance when the Archduke is otherwise occupied.

Districts

The city is divided into several sections called Quarters, which are connected by various bridges. The Eastern Quarter is located on the Eastern shore of the River Ein and houses the majority of the city's manufacturing and trade merchants. The local farms and ranches are also mainly located on this shore. On the opposite side of the river, the Western Quarter is home to the residential areas, as well as some of the small businesses that are conducted in or near the owner's home. Between these two areas, rising from the waters of the river itself, is the Central Quarter, where upper-class residences and more luxury good-oriented businesses are situated. This quarter is also home to much of the entertainment and arts of the city. Finally, sitting on the cusp of the Blue Falls and overlooking the valley below is the Floating Quarter, so named because roughly half of it protrudes out from the water and into open air. A large section of it is taken up by the Floating Palace, however this quarter also houses noble dwellings, hotels, and a few government buildings.
