Akades (Ah-kay-deez)

Son of Mehena and twin brother of Hespurr. From astride his twin steeds--Veiros the white mare and Deiros the black stallion--Akades governs the tide of war and dispenses his favors at random, his chaotic nature favoring all sides equally in time. The deity of war is liable to back one army one day and another one the next. Soldiers of all alignments pray to him for help in coming battles. Mighty and honorable in battle and a strong and robust deity, Akades answers only to his own warrior’s code and pursues no long-lasting alliances. He is known to love food, drink, and the hunt, though he loves battle best. His herald is the First Blade, a towering metal figure that charges unending into vicious battle.

PORTFOLIO AND RESPONSIBILITIES

He is a god whose portfolio includes, war, battle, and warriors. The church of Akades is perhaps the most widely known in battle-stricken Aralla. Countless centuries of warfare have unfolded on the battlefields of the world, and followers of the Foehammer have fought ably and honorably for all sides in nearly every such conflict. The independence of the Lord of Battles and his followers has ensured that his church is widely respected by members of all faiths, and none will doubt that they too might prevail in the next battle if only the Foehammer’s fickle nature smiles their way again. Nearly every combatant has fought alongside a cleric of Akades at some point or the other, and just as many have also fought against a cleric of Akades.

The Twinbridles of Akades - A pair of bridles, one colored white as pure snow and one as black as darkest night. Once a day, the power of the bridles can be used to change the tides of war in a major battle.   Chalice of the Foehammer - A majestic goblet, encrusted with gems. The liquid inside is always fresh and cool. Any drinkable liquid poured into the chalice becomes a powerful healing potion, or other potions to increase battle strength or focus.

The eves and anniversaries of great battles are the holy days of the church of Akades, and as such vary from place to place.

Meta Information

Obedience

Dress yourself in the heaviest set of metal armor you own. Shout your oath of loyalty to Akades at the top of your lungs, punctuating each pause for breath by smashing your weapon against a shield or against your armor-clad body. After your oath is done, kneel on one knee with your weapon resting against your shoulder. Recite your victories in battle in a sonorous voice until the time for your obedience is done. If you should be attacked while conducting your obedience, slay the creature who dared test your might. (You may be assisted by allies, but you must strike the killing blow.) Gain a +4 sacred or profane bonus on Strength checks and Strengthbased skill checks. The type of bonus depends on your alignment—if you’re neither good nor evil, you must choose either sacred or profane the first time you perform your obedience, and this choice can’t be changed.

Divine Boon

1: Battler (Sp) magic stone 3/day, spiritual weapon 2/day, or deadly juggernaut 1/day
2: Mass Strength Surge (Su) When using the strength surge granted power from the Strength domain, you can target allies within 30 feet of you instead of having to touch a single target. You can target a maximum number of allies equal to 1 + 1 for every 4 Hit Dice you possess (maximum 6). If you don’t have access to the Strength domain, you instead gain the ability to use the strength surge granted power a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier, as listed in the strength surge description. However, you can touch only a single target when using this granted power.
3: Shout of War (Sp) Once per day, you can use word of chaos as a spell-like ability. In order to use this ability, you must shout a battle cry at top volume, ending your shout in praise to Akades.
