Xavius (Zay-vius)

Overview

Adopted son of Melora. Xavius is the god of suffering, self harm, suicide, mental illness, and isolation. Said to have once been a human priest of Melora, so dear to her while suffering with severe mental illness that resisted magical treatment. In a final desperate attempt to solve his mental illness issues, Melora gave her left eye to her to ascend him to godhood. Unfortunately this only magnified his mental illness to match his new godly perception, driving him over the brink into permanent violent insanity. He is worshipped often by the criminally insane, or the mentally ill who beg and pray for alleviation of their symptoms.

Meta Information

Obedience

Perform a ritualized suicide by first scribing a note lambasting your enemies and then pretending to kill yourself via strangulation or cutting. Gain a +4 profane bonus on saving throws against mind-affecting effects.

Divine Boon

1: Heretic’s Hiss (Sp) command 3/day, whispering wind 2/day, or suggestion 1/day
2: Heresy (Su) You take great delight in worrying at weaknesses in the dogma of other religions. Once per day as a standard action, you can utter blasphemy or heresy against a single religion other than Xavius. A worshiper of the targeted religion must be able to hear your utterance, or this ability fails. You gain spell resistance equal to your Hit Dice + 11 against spells cast by worshipers of the religion you spoke out against. This spell resistance lasts until you use this ability again to blaspheme a different religion or until you fail to perform your daily obedience.
3: Mass Suicide (Sp) Your influence can drive entire groups of people to acts of self-destruction. You can cast weird once per day as a spell-like ability. Rather than assaulting the victims with images of fear, this ability assaults the targets with images and sensations of crippling sadness and despair. Those who succumb to the spell and die do so at their own hands. If no method of suicide is available for one who falls prey to this effect, the victim simply dies outright of sadness. This is a mind-affecting emotion effect.

Example Antipaladin Code

Bound to the tormented legacy of Xavius, I understand that suffering and madness can be as powerful and binding as any chains. In the tumultuous storm of his anguish, I find my purpose, and solemnly swear to:
  • To channel the depths of pain and suffering, understanding that in agony, there is strength and power.
  • To welcome the unpredictable whims of a fractured mind, using them as tools to sow chaos and disarray among my foes.
  • To seek solitude and silence, understanding that in the quiet, the voices of madness speak loudest.
  • To use the encroaching darkness and uncertainty as weapons, turning them against those who oppose me.
  • To feed off the raw power of desperation, understanding that those with nothing left to lose are the most dangerous of all.
  • To never let anyone forget the depths of torment that Xavius endured, and to ensure his legacy lives on through every act of chaos and rebellion.
