Kathra Synthfist
Before she came to Caracaram, Kathra Synthfist, formally Kathra Vass, served as a linemen in Queen Esredla De'Shan's personal levy, and eventually a mercenary working under numerous companies charged with eliminating groups of abhumans who'd taken up too close to settled communities. She came to Caracara twenty-four years ago at the behest of her brother, Nillian, a prominent member of the Shimmermoon Dockworkers guild, to provide protection as labor negotiations between the guild and the Nobles Councils had started to grow heated. Kathra's calm and steady demeanor ensured that she and the other hired guards kept violence to a minimum, ultimately ensuring peace as negotiations concluded.
Levveraging this success, Kathra founded a local miltia for Caracara, which had previously relied either on the armies of the local Duchess for protection, who were several days away, or the small number of templars stationed in the Flame Church's cathedral. The Tall Maul Militia would prove to be invaluable in the coming years as tensions rose with the goblin tribes of the crooked hills, and as two notable incursions by Margyr raiders were driven off in what most agree would have otherwise been devastating to the town.
Kathra is a simple woman, plain spoken and direct. While this might have proven as a leader in other situations, the people of Caracara have grown to appreciate her straightforward approach to the town's internal and external defense. To her militia, her orders are clear, The Queen's Peace stands--if it's broken from the outside, then kill it, if it's broken from the inside it, haul them before the judge. Break no head with a hammer you couldn't knock sense into with a fist.
Kathra is a plain-speaking, direct, and no-nonsense dwarf who runs the Tall Maul Militia in Caracara. She was decanted in a moderately sized community of Carkwood near the northern Misty Sea. She is from a gene-line formed with the inclusion of human and orc essence due to a dramatic loss in the town's dwarf population after a particularly devastating margyr attack on the town.
