The Grey Companies
The Grey Companies began as a policing force for the captured mages during the Mage Hunts. However, over time they began to change their role from jailor to protector, advisor, bodyguard, and guardian. The Grey Companies, along with The Refracted now work as a neutral peacekeeping force to help during disasters for the nations of Araneyah.

The Salamdran peoples consider the Grey Companies to be reputable and dependable. They send many of their ships to ferry the Grey Companies and Refracted mages to their destinations, if only for gossip and knowledge.
Neutral
The Amaranth Dominion, specifically the monarchy has little to do with the mages of the Refracted, or the wardens of The Grey Companies. They do not ask for help on most domestic issues, and would prefer to have them stay out of their business.
