Personal history
Griswold grew up in the once-prosperous town of Sargault, he was ousted from the town at the age of 27 when it was found he was practicing what was known then as the dark arts - this would later be reclassified as necromancy. It was common in those days for the nights to be long and lives to be short, the same found its way to his parents and two brothers who died in a particularly harsh winter when he was 15, speculation at the time was that he survived by eating the flesh of his family. But that rumour is nothing more than that and the history books that may hold records are long gone.
Before he was exiled from the town he had begun his studies in basic reanimation, resurrecting his pet dog and then later his neighbour Gerald.
Gerald was his greatest accomplishment and for the years after his exile, Gerald became his errand man... Until his extended family came to town one year to wish him a happy birthday for his 50th and to their horror found him with two loaves of bread, milk, and a herald. He was lactose intolerant and never learned how to read.
It wasn't long until the guard was alerted and Gerald poor sweet innocent Gerald lurched his way back to Griswold in his hut on the outskirts. Griswolds dog saved the day alerting him to the presence of the town's guard ahead of their arrival.
He would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for Geralds's medalling nephews, they returned a few days later and set fire to his home.
Griswold escaped but Gerald didn't make it, a minor setback but a major blow as Griswold had almost taught him how to say good morning. A few further years passed and this time Griswold was even more clever than before, intentionally setting blight to one of the farms on the outskirts of town causing the farmers to abandon it, and rumours spread that it was haunted giving him the perfect place to practice his "dark arts" (magical prudes).
He raised a few further followers and then a few furthermore and slowly began to build a new family of his one, one that never told him he was studying too late, or that he needed to help with the family stable mucking business. However drawing on so much magic from the weave caused a sudden and swift spread of Arcana-pox that consumed most of the village of Sargault and what the plague didn't take the following winter and a roaming band of gnolls took the next year.
Word spread of the haunted farm and the plague that claimed the village and it wasn't long till other "dark arts" enthusiasts realised that a wizard with great potential was leaving a trail of breadcrumbs for them to follow.
It was then that the other members of The Founding Four linked up with Griswold and his gifts and together they began to build the city and Lichdom that is the Blightfel.
In modern times Griswolds roll is the chief judge of new applicants that wish to become a Rhakta. He factors in the time they've lived, the advancements they've made within that time, and more importantly, the amount of time remaining in their life and their potential for further pursuits.
He is a harsh negotiator and rarely tips the scales in the favour of the applicant. Once everything is agreed upon, drawn, signed, and executed, he is on to the next.

Education
Griswold is a highly intelligent and shrewd individual, he is self-taught and always appreciates the ambitions of others who are like-minded.
He speaks most languages and is also a highly accomplished master of beasts (it does help that they are undead and have to listen, but rarely does anyone point that out to him).

Employment
Other than judging those who wish to become a Rhakta - he is seen as high nobility and mostly collects anima from his other businesses. Which mainly consists of the following
Corpserium Agriculture - Which is a whole farming operation that runs 24 hours 7 days a week using zombies to tend to the crops.
K9s of Distinction - An elite unit of attack and guard dogs trained to outrun anything, once they have the scent of their pray they'll stop at nothing till they secure it.
In-Stitch-U - One of the best skin stitching and self preservation palours in Blightfel

A good deal is worth doing, a bad one is worth avoiding.
