Central Authority

From this location every one of The Checkers in the city is dispatched, deployed and most importantly for them paid. Zooming in and out of the large squat single story building the steam cars are refuelled given a location for pick up and a destination for a client. Dispatchers take calls from all over the city constantly on call while making sure every well to do citizen who can afford the Checkers service and importantly silence is picked up quickly.

Appearance

Compared to the buildings around it the Central Authority looks small though this is partly because large sections of the black brick building are situated underground. Ornate Iron work covers large sections of the building and large steam pipes coming from the massive boilers located in The Steam Works that descend from above providing much needed steam for all the vehicles that need it for fuel.
On the ground floor you'll find one is greeted by the sight of rows upon rows of gleaming steamcars, each polished to a mirror shine and bearing the company's logo and distinctive checker pattern emblazoned on the side. The cars are arranged in neat, orderly lines, ready to be dispatched to their next destination at a moment's notice.
The hub is bustling with activity, as mechanics and engineers work tirelessly to keep the cars in top working condition. The sound of hissing steam and clanking gears fills the air, as mechanics tinker with engines and refuel the cars with concentrated steam. The smell of oil and metal is strong and pervasive, a reminder of the complex machinery that powers the vehicles.
One floor down you'll find both the offices and In the center of the hub, there is a large, circular counter, where clients can come to book a ride or inquire about the company's services. Behind the counter, a team of dispatchers work feverishly, taking calls and assigning cars to clients in need of transportation.

Location

The Central Authority as it currently stands is located in the Second Ring giving it a perfectly central location to most of the Checkers customers.

Purpose

The Central Authority is hub where the steam cars of the checkers company can return for repairs, refueling and to be stored when not in use. In addition it is where the offices of the leaders are along with the distribution center that handles any calls that come in from the field.

History

The Central authority is a strange building as it appears and looks like an elongated stables and you would be right to make that assessment as that is what it used to be. Before the Checkers existed this was the home location of The Coachmen and when they were dissolved the Checkers moved in and renovated it to accommodate the new steam vehicles and necessary mechanics and provide a location for their dispatch network.
