Bugbears
The largest and stongest of the common Goblinoids, Bugbears are, despite their size and brutish, rough appearence, masters of stealth and ambush.
To the bugbears, it is a form of prayer to their gods to catch prey unaware and throttle them with their hands or a garotte
Basic Information
Anatomy
Standing at over 2m tall and heavily muscled, bugbears are covered in thick, wirey hair. They have long, pointed ears and small black noses between their wide, yellow eyes.
Their feet and hands are thick and oversized, to best allow them to throttle their prey and to their feet are naturally padded with wide and flexible toes so they can move solently despite their bulk

Social Structure
Bugbears will generally live in smaller family groups than other goblinoids, with perhaps 2-3 generations of the same family living together.
Occasionally, bugbears can come to be amongst other goblinoids, if lost or seperated from their family unit, their size and strength will often lead them to take charge of a goblin tribe or to be used as as shock troops by the more militaristic hobgoblins
Facial characteristics
Their heads are wide with large pointed ears that can shift around in reaction to sound. They have large, wide eyes that tend toward being yellow or amber, small blacked noses and a wide mouth with small tusks on the lower jaw
Average Intelligence
Bugbears generally tend to be on the lower end of intelligence amongst goblinoids, unable to formulate the complex training drills, formations and battle tactics of hobgoblins or the inventiveness and gift for magic of goblins the bugbears do generally possess a low cunning and patience that will surprise those who expect them to be simple brutes
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Able to see almost perfevtly in the lowest light and with ears atuned to pick up the slightest noise, bugbears are a perfect nocturnal predator

Naming Traditions
Bugbear tribes tend to have violent names, thought to best honour their god, who is a diety of quick and efficient murder. They have been taught that the best prayer to offer their lost god is to offer their prey a silent and quick death.
Thier common names tend to use harsh, simple sylables in the goblin language. They have no concept of male or female names, with any gender being named on similar principals
