Core Keeper
A Core Keeper is a custodian of the Core Embassy. Much like an Exalted Sovereign, Core Keepers are divinely appointed to their task. However, instead of being chosen through ritual at birth like the Exalted Sovereigns, Core Keepers receive their mission sometime later in life through visions or conversation with whatever deity they dedicate their life to. Core Keepers often start out as clerics or paladins but exceptions to this do occur; either way they earn great respect from the high priests and priestesses who are in the know of this divine appointment.
Being a Core Keeper is a great honour but also a lonely one. As long as a person serves as a Core Keeper they cannot leave the shared grounds of the embassy and the mansion that serves as the Core Keeper's home. Meetings of ambassadors at the Core don't happen all too frequently and although other important people such as mages and scholars have access they rarely have time to spend with the Keeper.
Core Keepers are allowed to have partners and families but even if they met their significant others before being bestowed the task and title, not all of them choose to stay in a place so far from society. Personal visits from friends and family are allowed but they can't be granted access to the embassy's teleportation circle and have to find their own way there. If they don't have any means of teleportation magic, even the few miles travel from the closest city is made dangerous by the wilderness that is unpredictable thanks to the heavy magic influence from the Core itself.
Although a Core Keeper's job is to make sure that the Core Embassy stays safe and comfortable for any visitors, most of it is taken care of by the protections and enchantments imbued in the building. The Keeper's very presence helps to keep up the wards and strengthen them through the divine connections, however, so even with a lack of active responsibilities they are incredibly important.
