Misty Mountains
The name, despite being a little unimaginative, is perfect for this mountain range found in the North eastern corner of Arburg. Not the whole range is in Argurg, and it continues a little bit further into Bilese and other neighbouring countries.
Many have wandered into the mountains and have never returned, which caused the alternative name for these mountains to be the Open Jaws. No settlements dwell in them, for obvious reasons. Only the hardiest of mountain animals survive there. Plants seem to be unaffected by the mist, and the flora thrives in the mountainous region.
Many streams and rivers begin in these mountains, and they are perfectly fine, as well as the life in them. The Stetset River , Dragonfly Canal, Rosebridge Canal and the Ashdare River have sources in the mountains.
Neska and Atra are closest to the mountains.
Log #67No one lives in the Misty Mountains because of this unusual natural phenomenon. During Zithust, the hottest season of the year, the mist is at its thinnest, but is still there. During Lonilt, the coldest season, the mist is impenetrable, as in the night of any season. No one can explain why it happens. The mist forms only at the base of the mountains, and gets to about ten metres high. This was discovered by someone who sought refuge in a crevice on the side of one the steep crags.
Yesterday we made camp between two mountains. The mountains are part of a long range, and they are the largest and steepest mountains I have ever seen (and I've seen a lot of mountains). The tops are snow-capped, despite it being the hottest part of Zithust {see Seasons }. Another strange thing was this fog, or mist, that was found along the base all around the mountains. We made camp in the morning, and I figured that the mist would dissipate by the time the high noon sun arrived, but it remained the whole day. When nightfall came, the fog thickened, and we couldn't see a single thing. We couldn't even see our hand if we put it right in front of our faces. We lost several men who couldn't find their way back to camp, and one of them plunged into the ravine nearby. Not only could we not see a bloody thing, we couldn't hear anything through the fog. It was like a wall. As soon as it thinned this morning, we fled those mountains. Never again will we pass through there.
