Mammoths & Mastodons
... a favorite of many Cultures, these beasts roamed the lands of forever frost!
"You need good gear to pilot a Bede! We also have Mastodon Pelts and Auroch's Mantles- to keep you warm in your travels! How about Mammoth-Shag Gloves & Boots? If that doesn't satisfy you, we have a whole Mammoth!"
While Bede Sleds were used to traverse the frozen landscape, this method exerted much energy from the driver. Myth Folk constructed new Poto Bedes, allowing them to attach a mount. Mammoths & Mastodons of the Ice Age became favored animal companions for this role.
The Folk, Giant Folk, and Proto-Humans raised these animals. Reared from youth, these pack animals form strong social bonds with their handler. They are able to provide fur and ivory, find sources of water or vegetation, haul heavy cargo, break ice, and act as steady, sturdy mounts for sleds.
Origin & Significance
For years, many Cultures hunted the Mammoths for their meat and fur. This practice left many to fear Mortals, but it was Giant Folk that first formed a kinship with these animals, allowing them to establish hereditary bonds over a long period of Time. This practice was adopted by the Proto-Humans, as they began forming bonds with the animals once more. Ancient archaeological Proto-Human artifacts include totems and statuaries that include a mammoth's head or skull, as well as cave paintings that taught the lessons of hunting and domesticating these animals.
Mastodon-Skull Totemic
Mammoths and Mastodons were often associated with Gho Tosog, Eidolon of War, with ivory weapons.Animal Handling & Domestication
Mammoths and Mastodons live anywhere between 80-100 years. They are kept in a pack of 3-5, with an odd number of females to male. Typically, one bull is enough, as these can be vicious with their adolescent offspring, requiring the protection of the herd.
The herd will travel with small groups or Tribes, carrying their charges across ice. Teaching the herd migratory paths of the Tribe made them reliable during blizzards, when the paths could be obscured. In warmer months, they are sheared for their shaggy fur.

Measurements
"Units" are measurements, defined by length, width, and weight. A whole Unit is denoted with an "Un" and represents 1 whole measured "Unit" (equivalent to the average length of a forearm). A "Micro-Unit" is denoted with a "Um" in measurements and is the size of an index finger bone. 10 Micro-Units make 1 Un. To measure weight, Unit Burden is calculated relative to the weight of an adult fist. Total Units are measured using decimals.

Author's Notes
This would have been my submission for Fur. I'll come back to this one to write about the associative Mammoth Titan. Until then, new doors are opening and I must see what is beyond!
