Amemnon Kaldar's reign had lasted millennia- with each month, the territories and power of the Kaldar Imperium grew. It seemed an unstoppable force, and the dawn of a new era of a changed world. But no one could have expected the assassination of Amemnon Kaldar- apparently his drow housemaid Sister Silbyrine laced his tea with a poison so strong it could "kill a god, and so it did", causing his agonising death. It was not long until the Kaldar Imperium began to break down.
One of the most written-about moments in history, the assassination of Amemnon Kaldar was apparently carried out as Sister Silbyrine, a drow maid in Fortress Kaldar, poisoned his tea with a poison so powerful it could “slay a god, and so it did" (in the words of High Counsel Adratis), in the Moonshine of 48,050. Kaldar had just returned from a two-year campaign across Northern Taurin, which was a success. During Kaldar's campaign in the North of Taurin, Silbyrine made a long journey to the Underdark. Silbyrine a dark secret- she had long ago been exiled by her drow colony Izaran and would be willing to do anything to return to her previous position of power there- she struck a pact with the High Lords of Izaran that she would kill Kaldar in return for the end of her exile. She accepted the pact, sourcing the most powerful of poisons from the Ebon Roots, thousands of miles below the surface. On her return, she slipped the poison into Kaldar's tea. She fled as Kaldar died an agonising death- healers arrived in seconds but could do nothing against the poison, which rampaged through their lord, draining him of his life essence. Silbyrine was caught in the nearby town of Arason in a disguise, discovered by Uradel, a female elf and the greatest diviner of the Kaldar Imperium. The town guard rushed to capture her- she managed to kill thirty before being restrained and carried partway to Deltaris, where Imperial Royal Guard on horseback took her to the Fortress. Silbyrine, kicking and screaming, was forced to gaze upon Kaldar's defiled body before it was sealed within it's tomb. And thus began the Procession of a Million Tears, in which Kaldar's golden coffin was marched, accompanied by a parade of ten thousand Imperial Guard, down the streets of Deltaris and to the Stormclaw mountain. Not far behind, Silbyrine was paraded along, tied to a stake with steel cables, still alive. At the peak of Stormclaw, Kaldar's coffin was placed and a great circle carved around it. The coffin was opened to reveal his withering face, so that he could see the gods looking down on him. As the mighty winds blew, seeming to sing a mourning song, Silbyrine's chest was slit, so that her blood would run through the intricate circle around Kaldar's coffin. In the most protected and symbolic event in history, golden light came from the spilt blood and the coffin, and a great beam of light erupted from the coffin and into the sky, burning a star in the sky. By the time the light receded, the circle and coffin were gone, and an era had ended.
