Era beginning/end
The beginning of recorded history is marked by the supposed event of the First Forgiving, the arrival of a powerful Angel to repair the "godless chaos" that the world supposedly had been plunged into.
Ancient artworks and scraps of translated writings from across the world point towards the arrival of a dark-haired woman from a gate of golden light, who towered high above cities and brought prosperity and hope. She was the First Forgiving, the first contact from the gods in aeons, made manifest in the form of an Angel. For the peoples of Many had forgotten the gods long ago- they had faded to obscure myth, and the coming of the First Forgiving rekindled the hope and faith in the gods that most people still carry today. Though dates are hard to pinpoint for historians, it is agreed that the First Forgiveness visited the world for exactly one hundred years before vanishing without a trace, leaving the world mourning yet forever changed for the better.
